So I've been out of the hobby for a little over a year due to joining the military and not being able to get my own place but that will all be remedied shortly. At my best I was running 6 tanks ranging from 10g to 55g and I desperately miss it. I will be starting over with a 55g and a 52g bow front, with another 55g, 29g, and 35g hopefully following shortly after. Out of my old stock I have a 3" upside down catfish, 18" pleco, and a goldfish that survived being a feeder and is now about 7". I've always liked community tanks, oddball fish, and a few monsters in tanks though i don't have the room for anything large. Any interesting suggestions would be helpful. Thanks for the assistance.

You should have at least 1 monster. You could get a jack Dempsey in the 55 gallon tank. you should re-home the pleco to a tank that is 90 gallons or more. you should put the goldfish in the 35 gallon tank. you should put the catfish in the 29 gallon tank with other small/medium sized community fish. You could put some angels in the 52 gallon tank. Just some ideas.

I agree I will have to pick up a monster, I haven't had one in a while. I've had a Jack Dempsey, in fact he may still be alive haven't talked to my parents in a while. Planning on giving the pleco away I won't be able to get a larger tank for a bit, don't know what i want to do with the goldfish and i'm thinking about making the 35 my community catfish tank. thanks for the ideas

Your welcome. It is good for 1 common goldfish to have a 40 gal. but because it was a 35 gal i let it slide. 29 is almost 35 but there is a stopping point with everything. If you REALLY like community fish you could put the Upside-d catfish with other community fish in the 52 gallon. And get a convict cichlid or a fire-mouth cichlid for the 29 gallon and maybe some fast schooling fish with it such as tiger barbs or giant danios and rainbow fish ECT.

I'd personally take that 52 gallon and make it a nice planted community tank. Maybe have it serve double purpose and try to breed feeders in it, while keeping it nice looking. The bowfront aquariums make excellent community tanks. In a 55, you can be limited as to what monster you can easily house. It depends on what you are looking for... Would you want a single fish in the tank, or some type of sa/ca cichlid community?

You are right on rehousing the pleco, and depending how attached you are to the goldfish, I'd personally consider doing the same with it as well.

Surprisingly my JD, if he's still in my talk back home, was a pretty peaceful fish. He was raised in a community talk with various cats and gouramis. The 52 is definitely going to be a planted community tank I just never got into tetras or barbs or really any small schooling fish like that, my tanks have always been as varied as possible. I was thinking about a jaguar for the 55, is that going to be big enough to raise one out.
