After some research I have altered my fish list I would like to know if any sees a problem or has any helpful suggestions while I am waiting on my cycle.
first length is what I have or plan to buy the second is how big they are expected to grow

I have
1 gold goruami~1" gets 4-6"
1 blue goruami~2" gets 4-6"

I want
1 senegal 3-4" will get 12"
1 X.nigri Brown knife ~4" gets ~12"

Also how big a tank will they need once I upgrade to hold them for life? preferred dimensions would be nice.
If I would like to add another senegal at some point?
A peacock eel?

any helpful comments are appreciated

How big is the tank you have right now?

A tank of at least 20 gallons would be great for your two gouramis, of course the larger the better.

One thing to note...senegals are predators. If you plan to keep gouramis with the senegals, make sure that it is only temporary, and make sure that the gouramis are larger than the senegal. Two three-spot gouramis will be bait for a full grown senegal.

I'm sorry pdbrady, but I have to disagree. If you've ever kept a senegal then you know very well how aggressive they get. I've seen human keepers have chunks bitten from their hands while doing a water change. The gouramis will be less than half the senegal's adult size - meaning that the senegal will view them as a tasty snack. I'm not sure where you got your information about their size, but many senegals get 18+ inches.

Senegals are also territorial, so if you want to keep two, make sure you have a VERY large tank or even better, keep them separately.

The size info I got from the primer in the poly thread for senegal or culivar bichar it is only 12"
and I mostly got the goraumies as top waters and to cycle my tank if the poly eats them I a out a few dollars in feeders and can get another fish

Max size for sengals are about 14 inches, and that's pushing it. You're talking about 11-12 inch max for most senegals. Your 18 inch length must be for a different species of polypterus.

As for the tanks, you might be able to squeak by with a 40 breeder, but a minimum of 55 is actually better.
