Hello I decided I'm going to set up another aquarium for my birthday in august. I decided on a 75g tank! I'm going to run a canister and powerfilter so the tank will be able to handle a big bioload. I want a single wet pet! I love Jaguar cichlids and I'm sure one would be fine in their but I am looking for a more uncommon cichlid for it. But I'm open to all suggestions

Uncommon from cichlids I have kept would be Pollenis,Geophagus brasiliensis, chocolate cichlids, maybe a pair of Uaru these fish I have kept that were interesting and they aren't common at the big chain pet stores.

Very nice! I'd recommend you follow what you love honestly. Clearly you are seeing if anyone has any other recommendations but don't let anyone talk you out of something you want. Polleni/Bleekeri are very nice (I have a bleekeri and he's a beautiful silky black with the spots being blue or gold depending on how the light catches them) and I have a small chocolate I just got a day or 2 ago. Looking for a single I'd try something like a RTM (red tiger motoguense; 1 of 5 parachromis species as I under stand it) or maybe a festae (Red terror). Haven't had either of these but they are on my "want" list but too aggressive for my "small" cichlid community tank. Just my suggestions but I'm sure you'll get many more! GL! ^.^

just an FYI having more than enough bio filtration will not reduce the need for water changes. not trying to be a Debbie downer, and wish you nothing but the best with your new tank.

+1 on the cuban. If you like jags look into loisellei and friedrichsthalii pretty sure they stay smaller than a jag

I used to go for allot of uncommon fish but the only problem is when you keep an uncommon fish long enough it becomes common to you. Not saying don't do it but just a heads up. Another thought is common fish are common because they are appealing. A nice adult Jag is a sight. If you like black fish Polleni Cichlids are cool or Butterkoferi. I am a big fan of Black Ghost Knifes.

I like having multiple fish in a tank so I went with two red spotted and one green severum with a few platinum honduran red points. I am very content as they get large and have good color but I don't have to worry about anyone killing anyone.

Love knife fish! If I wasn't so into cichlids they'd be the center of my tank. I looked at the OPs name and realized that I've seen other post he's made and that (I think I remember) he already had a cichlid "community" so he really is just looking for a single fish. Just looked up the Cuban (still new to having an image with every name in my head) and I'd say +1 to that as well. Very simple color and yet striking.

Thank you guys I think a Cuban cichlid is what I at try I love the way they look. And I love a more dark color pattern too, but you just can't not love the way a adult male GT colors look either but dark I think is what I am looking for

I understand that XD
