Cichlids, America
I threw the thought of getting a 125 away im not that experienced and its a little to big... :P But a 75 gallon fish tank would do perfect for me. I am getting it around Spring time I want cichlids.. i know this may sound like an overstock but i done it with my 65 and it worked out perfect.Wanted a firemouth but due to poor size (5") i am looking for another cichlid that hit the 7"+mark. Any feedback/ help is Appreciated thanks.

75 gallon fish tank

gravel: rocks
Items: Rocks, driftwood,flowerpots,

I want atleast 5 total in here.

1) jack Dempsey(male)
2) green terror(female)
3) ???
4)??
5)bichir(possibility)

if you can maybe try an all male group.JD,con,or HRP,freddie or loiselli, carpintis.i think 5 is possible but another way to go is 3 cichlids then 2-3 non-cichlids.SD,or the birchir or....

salvini, cuban cichlid(looks like a jaguar but a little smaller different coloring), firemouth (mine is 6.5"), red hooks. synsplium, texas. not to much of a different maintenance wise between a 75 and 125 other than a 125 is a great tank. and you have a little more wiggle room. Now me personally i wouldn't mix CA with SA i had a bad experience with it and my green terrors suffered. CA cichlids i feel a much more aggressive and want to be the alpha of the tank. If you can afford it go the 125 you will end up with one of them sooner or later!!!

Everybody has given you good tips for stocking the tank but let me make a couple suggestions. Instead of gravel, go with pool filter sand, You can get it at Lowes/Home Depot its $8 for 50lbs. That will save you some money on the gravel you were going to use & sand stays cleaner.

Also, the 125 will open up many more options for you as far as stock goes & will reduce some of the aggression you will see. More space = less aggression. Do a comparison of the $ you'll spend on the 75 vs the 125. You could probably get a 125 set up for only $100-$200 more. Well worth it in the long run.

If you're not planning to set it up for a couple months, that gives you plenty of time to scout out Craigs List.
