Stocking ideas for a 110L / 30G

My brother has a 110L / 30G tank and needs some stocking ideas. He kept Yellow Labs (malawi´s) for quite some time and wants to try something new. He wants something with personality and that is active.
For example a cichlid pair... But all ideas are welcome!

The tank measures:
Length: 81cm / 32"
Depth: 36cm / 14"
Height: 46cm / 18"

sure, just something thats active and not shy.

and if i know him right he probably would like more to keep 1-2 big fish (well as big as the tank can handle) than a school of smaller ones.

could do a breeding pair of a small ciclid (kribs? cons? firemouths? acara) or a mixture of some smallish SA/CA cichs

+ a pack of cories or something
