I will be setting up a 180G tank shortly (72x24x24) or one of Marinelands new Marine 36" deep (front to back) and wanted to get some ideas on a tanganyikan community that would remain true to their natural surroundings. I have 6 VERY NICE pices of rock that avarage about 35-40 lbs each. Rock is loaded with holes and crevices (sandstone in tone). I'm not decided on substrate as of yet. I have a small fishroom (14 tanks) and keep pretty much what everyoune else does; large variety of Lamp. compressiceps, Calvus, Nigriventris, Cylindricus, Helianthus, Hecqui, Tretocephalus, Kendalli (large group), Kapampa Fronts, Brevis (Katabe), Lamp. Lemairii, Lamp. Mimicus, Midnight Dickfieldi's, many Synodontis Multipunctatus, Leleupi (bright yellow) Altofasciatus (Kipilli), Buescheri (Zaire Gold) looking for a male by the way!, Calliptuerus and so on. So what do you guys think, would you paint the back of tank black or go another direction?

What about a large group of cyprichromis leptasoma? and i would go with a black background...

25 leptos 5m 20f :-D

Mike, with my current stock list what would you put in the 180? I'm keeping my Fronts-4, Kendallis-11, 3 White Calvus and 4 Gold Head Comps in the 125 until the Kendalli pair off. The Kendalli are all 5+ inches at this time. I want to have a nice community tank in the 180 with respect to their natural environment. Thanks for the nice comment about my collection.

perhaps gobies? Just be sure to get something enough enough the fronts will not eat...

I would Keep what you have, and look to expand your fronts a bit... 11 Kendalli seem a little much... less of these will make room for greater numbers of other fish. Of course I can under why you would want to keep them all... I think gobies would add a little something different... and I love them...

Black background w/ black or black and white eco-sand would look real nice. I would think in a 180 a small (5-7) group of Cryps would work into your mix...
