So, I’ve been trying to figure out stocking for my tank I’ll be building this summer and I want to get your ideas for this tank. The footprint will be a 7*3 roughly 380 gallons. I am definitely going to have 3-4 larger polypterus (teugelsi, congicus, weeksi, etc.) 1-2 larger cats ( possibly 1 Auchenoglanis occidentalis giraffe catfish) I think the tank may be a little small for one of those but i am still considering that idea.

But anyway i am want to have a group of larger central/ South American cichlids. I was looking at doing a group kelberi peacock bass but I feel a group of 4-5 will be too heavy for a 380 gallon tank

So I’d like some suggestions from you guys for stocking.

I was thinking about a vieja species like synspilum, argentea, etc or possibly amphilophus but I also know how conspecific aggression is with cichlids. And I know how aggressive those guys can be.

But anyway what do you guys think? I’d even consider some larger geos like winemilleri.

I think a huge group of thoricthys would be a great display with some A. Robertsoni as well. maybe 6 Robertsoni and 20-25 of a thoricthys species like pasionis.

Alternatively, a group of vieja would probably work in this tank size. If you wanted a community of different species, you could get it to work with some tweaking.

Actually I really like that idea my only would be the catfish snatching up one of the smaller thoricthys.

I think as long as I could keep them from breeding I wouldn’t have to worry about aggression too much
