I recently got a 70 gallon tank and i wanted to get some mid sized to large american cichlids.
My plans for stocking were
1 Blood parrot cichlid
2 EBJD
1 Senegal Bichir
1 Red Shoulder severum
Also if possible a upside down catfish

I know thats a bit overstocked but my LFS said that should work and i would be doing 60-75% water changes weekly

Edit: I realize thats very overstocked but my LFS owner said that could keep aggresion down if any were to arise. I really just want a few mid to large american ciclids with some bottom feeders

dimensions of the tank? 4 cichlids sound like a lot for what I'm assuming is a 4ft tank. Especially 2 EBJD which can reach 7 ish inches and it will only get worse if they are a breeding pair.

Ebjd and blood parrots are prone to inbreeding related issues, if you want a bunch of cichlids get a colony of amatitlania/cryptoheros/thorichthys and do some research on what other cichlids you can put together based on geography
For example, see if you can find someone with any of the nicoya peninsula convicts (amatitlania nigrofasciata/siquia Rio bagaces, tempisque, piedras, cabuya, or lagarto) and put rainbow cichlids/neetroplus with them
Cramming will decrease aggression and having more of each species prevents the risk of hybridization
This only goes into affect once there's like 4 of each sex from at least one species though
All of these will probably be fine in a 70
