.
just got my oscars moved to the new 300, gonna do the 90 in africans. first idea was a bunch of peacock males for lots of color and no breeding, but now im thinking a front or 2, a c. moori and some tangs. i'm open for any suggestions, its ready to set up now so lets hear what ideas you all can give me.

make the 90 into your wet dry system for the 300 gallon.... j/k i would do a small frontosa's like 3-4 max and at 2-3 females and 1 male.

If your tank is only 4' I'd stay away from fronts and go with peacocks and smaller or at least less aggressive haps like protomelas steveni "taiwon reef", placidochromis phenochilus "tanzania", otopharynx lithobates, copadichromis azureus and a few labidochromis caeruleus for extra color. Every fish has its own personality but I have had good luck with these species. Some azureus can be nasty. The one I have right now is really mellow. Good luck.

yea i would not doing fronts in anything less that 6' long term

for your 90 i would do peacocks and throw in some labs, should be cool to see especially with all that height for caves and such

interested in what you will do keep us updated

sure will, lfs has some good looking peacocks right now. what's everyone's oppinion on keeping c. moori and deep water haps with peacocks? i love both of those.

Def. dont put fronts in the tank, if you did 2 at max and its still a pretty small tank for them. You could do alot more variety with other africans =] I like the peacock/hap Idea. I know many people do that and I have seen some great tanks from it. I wouldnt do all males though as the dominant male will show color, the others will not be as colorfull and there would be alot more agression with all male. I would try the peacock/haps and add in some females =]

I like the peacock / hap idea as stated above. The other fish I would add would be a male Compressiceps. Mine stays near the top of the tank and he is an awesome looking specimen.

Unfortunately my tank is a 75 and he is borderline too big for it. Soon I'm donating him to my brother who has a 90.

is there a list somewhere or can someone tell me what are a few good pairs that won't hybridize (if thats a word)

With a mixed peacock tank it will be really hard to prevent hybrids....

I have an all male tank and used to have pairs . I like the all male tank a lot better. I never have to try to catch holding females, males are a lot more colorful than drab females, they color up just as nice without females. Here's a couple pics. I'd stay away from moori but deep water haps are slightly less aggressive.
