so i completely tore down my 110 and I'm starting new. i love having an empty tank its like a blank canvas. so i have always love predatory or aggressive fish. i love cichlids like red terrors and midas cichlids, but they would shed the plants into a toss salad. the tank will have simple plants like amazon sword so im not getting into anything too fancy.

so i would love some suggestions for what to stock the tank with. i was thinking exodons but at $8 a piece at my LFS that out of the question budget wise. nothing crazy expensive and is a predator of some sort and i would like at least 2 fish so it cant be incompatible with others

Crenicichla are awesome because they work superbly in planted tanks. ;) Plus they come in so many different sizes and colors, there is almost a Crenicichla for each situation. :)

In your case, you are wanting a community setting no? How about this for a stock list:

1 pair Crenicichla notophthalmus
5 Mesonatus festivum
6 Serpae tetras
6 Brokenline tetras
8 Emperor tetras
4 Random species of Corydoras
5 Otocinclus affins

That'll more than give you an active tank, and it'll be totally awesome to look at. :)

Carpintis, Red tiger Mota, Electric blue african cichlid.
