Hello everyone. My experience with fish is that I never had a monster fish. I had Oscars, blood parrots, gouramis, ghost knives and even a red tale catfish but I re homed them when they started to overgrow the tank.

Now I saved money to have a tank to keep some monster fish. They always fascinate me when I see them in stores like huge blood parrots or oscars or a paroon shark and most importantly an arowana. I even thought to buy a flower horn but I am undecided. Can you please suggest me the stocking ideas? I can get a 180 to 200 cm long tank with about 60 to 70 cm width and and good height.

Please suggest what are my options.

Thanks.

Well it sounds to me like youre talking about a 180-240 gallon tank. Which gives you a lot of options for big fish, but still excludes the larger growing monster fish.

A flowerhorn would indeed love your tank, as would most any large central american cichlid. I'm a big fan of the amphilophus complex cichlids, I'd love to dedicate a roomy tank to a big male hogaboomarum or chancho.

Similar to the big CA cichlids are festae, which i think is a very good option for your tank. You could keep a large male festae with a female or two very happy in there.

If youre dead set on arowanas, the only option i would consider for the tank youre suggesting is a jardini arowana. The silvers require much larger tanks ime.

There are lots of other options. Fahaka puffer maybe, pike cichlids, Saltwater FOWLR set up with a larger trigger or angel...
