I have a 125 gallon tank that I am looking to stock with SA fish. I am looking at buying a group of Geophagus "peach face". I am planning on some driftwood and a few plants in bunches. I was thinking maybe 3 cichlid groups, the Geos, some Severum, and maybe a few angels. Then some dither fish, perhaps some of the larger tetras. And maybe 1 or 2 catfish. I'm looking for very interesting and colorful fish. This tank was stocked with Malawi Haps before so my wife still wants it to look good with the SA. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks,

Jim

I may add a few Firemouths also. I had them when I was a kid and always thought they were cool little guys.

they wont do so hot with more peaceful SA cichlids. i'd go for 6 geos, 1 or 2 severums and some festivus. as for some schooling fish, get some larger tetras or else the severums will make a snack out of them.

I have swordtails in my 125 to add some nice color and activity. I'm trying to get 4 or 5 pairs of different swordtails so that I have the look of a school but more variety

So my final plan for my 125 is:

7 Geophagus "Peach Face"
Pr Severum
Pr Wild Type Angels
Pr Hypsophrys nicaraguensis
Assorted Tetras/Swords
Couple Loaches/Catfish

The tank will have a few rocks and plants on the edges with the middle pretty much open. Also a sand substrate.

What do you all think?

Thanks!
Jim

Not if he wants and live plants, but they are great cichlids
