I'm currently trying to setup 2 planted tanks. One is a 40g the other is 10g. What do you think of the stocklists I came up with?

Tank A (40g):
6 Tiger Barbs
3 Clown Loach
1 Redtail Shark
2 Oto Catfish

*NOTE* I already own the 3 Clown Loaches. They will be in this tank temporarily until I get a bigger tank soon and & more of them.

My question with this is, will any of these fish uproot my plants? (I heard Tiger Barbs like messing with the roots)

Tank B(10g):
7 Rummynose Tetra
7 Neon Tetra
10 Shrimp

Filtration is there, but I think this one might be overstocked. I might just take out the Rummnose Tetra and add 3 neons instead.

Thoughts? Any tips/suggestions are welcome!

Red tail shark might or might not coexist peacefully with the loaches, depending on the individual - they are known for being aggressive to fish with similar body shape.

Hey Joe, no tiger barbs do not uproot plants what so ever infact i used to have 18 tiger barbs in my 140 gallon planted aquarium (before i changed to discus) and they LOVED the plants. As for stocking your 40 the 6 tiger barb are good but be careful with the red tail they are very aggressive to fish that look like them (clown loach, rainbow shark, SAE, CAE other redatils etc.. so i would say either remove the shark or the loaches. the ottos may also be killed by the shark. why not try a school of large tetra? maybe 6 columbian or serpae would look awesome in that tank. Have fun with the hobby dude!

oh and for the 10 gallon it is slightly over stocked but i think u could get away with it also long as u keep the water condition good.

Thanks for the replies!

I'll see if I can find a small Redtail Shark and see how it goes. If he is troublesome, I will remove him from the tank. Do you guys think 2 ottos are a good number to have?

Anyone else have anything to add?

I've decided to just not add a Red Tail Shark period. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can add instead? I'd like to add more to that tank, if possible.
