well my 235 gallon is about ready to be set up. i just finished staining the stand. 1 of the filters is cycled im gonna switch some media around in one and run it on a cycled tank for a week. so hopefully next weekend my tank will be filled with water.
anyways my stocking is as followed feel free to make suggestions thats why i posted;)
1 black arow
2 hystrix rays
4 clown loaches(prob or some other bottom feeder)
1 tigrinus cat
1 fire eel
1 black ghost knife
i think it should be pretty well stocked once all fish are grown up if there is room i might add some medium sized mid dwellers. any advice or suggestions?
BTW im gonna be running 2 rena filstar xp3s and a lifegaurd fluized bed filter (rated for 900gal aquarium) 4 250w heaters. thanks in advance

That's gonna be a cool tank! I like the combination you are going for ... some interesting fish.

You will have to plan you layout quite well as you will need open space for the rays, as well as some cover for the knife and eel. I would also recommend buying them small and growing them up together to reduce aggression (it will also be cheaper) ... remember that aros grow fast so maybe buy him a little after the others.

For other tankmates I'd recommend peaceful South/Central American cichlids that get big enough not to be eaten, or a fei feng (flagtail, silver prochilodus). I think the usual tinfoils, bala sharks, parrots, etc. would look rather common in your setup.

Otherwise it all sounds great .. keep us posted

thanks i have a bgk now about 5"- 6" and my eel will be about 6" also the clowns i think the biggest i could get was 4" and the arow smallest i could get is an 8" and the rays will prob be 5" around. and the tig i want to get around 6". thanks again i will post pics asap

o i forgot to mention im gonna be putting driftwood for the eels and bgk loaches etc.....
anyone got any good driftwood sites? i have only found 1 good one

That all sounds perfect, except I'm still worried about the aro. An 8" aro will turn into a 12" aro in a couple of months, but the loaches won't grow much in that time and could get eaten. Could you possibly get bigger loaches?

That was my obly concern was the size of loasches. I can't get any bigger ones. If anyone knows where I can get 5 or 6 inch loaches for a decent price? Thanks

Should work.

Good luck with it :)

you would be surprised how well clown loaches do with bigger aggresive fish sounds like a nice tank :)
thats what i figured they will have plenty of hiding places. monday i will post pics. today we put the tank on the stand and i added the sand and filled it up about 6in of water so the sand can settle and tomorrow im going to fill it up the rest. well actually gonna leave about 6 inches at the top to move around the decor and crap which im ordering monday. so pics monday and fish soon:) :) :) :) :) :)
