I know there are several threads as to tank mates for an Arowana.

I don't have an Arow yet but I'm building a 300 Gallon tank for one. I'm seriously considering a Black Arowana as silvers get a bit bigger and are more common. I like to be a bit different.

I was considering going with a dragon themed tank. I was looking at Dragon Goby's or rays as a bottom dwellers to go with the arow. After doing a bit of research I've found gobys prefer a salty water. About a spoonful per gallon. I don't know if they would work with an arow.

I'm not sure about any other tank mates. Perhaps some pacu's? They get quite large so they won't be food options for the arow. I've had them in the past and they were very interesting but had to sell them when I moved.

Thoughts?

If you do go with rays, you'd probably have to ditch the pacu's.

Non compatible then?

I'm still doing research. The tank probably won't have water in it until at least xmas or later and another few weeks to cycle it.

That is why I'm looking for advice.

Aros and rays together is a pretty classic combo, I myself have done this many times in the past and was still doing it until a while ago when I decided on going rays only. The pacu's on the other hand do not mix well with rays, not sure how they go with aros but they aren't recommended with rays. Ever thought about dats or flagtail? They go pretty good with aros and rays.

I'll look into the Dats and Flagtails and see if I like them or not.

I hear the Dats are worth quite a bit for the larger ones. Is this true?

ya....large dats are worth $....aro will outgrow the dats as far as rate of growth....get the dats a good 6-10 months before the aro.....rays or polys for bottom....w/ a tig:)

no pacu's...,get large and are quite dull imo.

Tig?

OH! Also, do they go on decently with Plecos? I was hoping to find a less common pleco for the tank. Perhaps an L25 Scarlet Dragon or something. I like the look.

What are Tigs? Is that the full name?
