So... I just got a birthday present. My parents asked me if I either wanted a car or something else. I decided on a giant aquarium.

W 120cm
L 400 cm
H 200cm

Yup... Its a big one alright. I'm recycling old pieces of glass from a sliding door I've been holding onto (tempered too). Using it as a base for my aquarium. I want to hear your guys suggestions on what fish I should stock it with? Salt? Fresh? Also I'm not in the US so asian arowanas are fair game (hehehe).

Would live to hear your suggestions!!!

Well if those measurements are right…holy crap that’s a good size tank.
My money goes to morays, cat sharks, and other marine predators.
Or a nice Amazon display with Leporinus, an arowana, rays, oscars, p bass, etc.

Will keep this in mind. So many options though excited!!!

One thing I’d be careful of is if the glass is built for the kind of weight a tank will put on it.

My suggestion is a tank with plenty of smaller fish, you may enjoy the appearance of this more than just a few bigger fish. The 3 tanks in my signature, discus, and smaller marine species are all options along those lines.

Congrats on your windfall. However...you have a few large pieces of glass which don't even approach the thickness required for this project. And if they were thick enough...monster tanks don't assemble themselves.

Planning the stocking for this tank now...is pretty much the equivalent of choosing the paint colour and furniture for the cottage you will have on Mars after we colonize it. The gap between "now" and "then" is a huge one, with many other important choices and decisions to make first and much work to do.

Good luck with this project, hopefully you will keep us posted on your progress! :)
