Stocking in a 60 gallon

Hello Everyone, i need some stocking ideas for a 60 gallon (standard 4 footer). I setup a tank at my girlfriend place, so mainly beginner fish/hardy since she is mainly caring for them (she's a first timer for fish but has dogs and birds), Filtration is a filstar XP 4 and it has a 250w heater. The fish needs to probably live in the tank for life since i dont think an upgrade is possible. I was thinking some sort of cichlid that are not overly aggressive or territorial (perhaps certain species of africans?). I put alot of rocks and plastic plants so they have plently of hiding room.

I was wondering what is everyone else input?

setup a lake malawi african cichlid tank. the colors of these fish .... simply amazing! some are as bright as salt water fish

heh yeah that what i was planning but recently is their any species i should stay away from so far when i had zebras/and albino they've been giving me trouble by dominating the tank its like hit or miss
