Hi,

I will soon be setting up a 100 gallon freshwater aquarium and was looking for some advice as to how I should go about stocking it. The aquarium's measurements are 60inx18inx24in. I plan on running a AquaClear 110 power filter along with a Fluval 405 once the tank us up and running.

Here is what I will be putting in it for now...

-Red Devil(Male) - 8"
-Festae Red Terror - 3"
-Convict(Male) - 2.5"
-Convict(Femail) - 2"
-Green Terror - 2"
-Common Pleco - 7"

The RD and Pleco are in a 29 gallon together. The Convicts, GT, and Festae are currently in a separate 29 gallon.

Any and all comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

8" RD could be a problem down the line (or RD needs to be smaller than Fastae/GT if it were to work).
Too aggressive IMO. I'd make Fastae your show fish and add some dithers if it was me. But that's just my taste it all depends on personal preference.

That's what I was thinking. I fear that my RD will be too aggressive towards the other. He usually doesn't bother what he can't see and he loves to stay hidden in his cave, occasionally coming out to remind everyone else who's boss. He's been that way since is was about 3 inches when I had him with another green terror, jack dempsey, texas, red jewel, oscar, and convict. He would stay in his cave most of the day but would come out and chase everyone at random. So I put im alone with my pleco and he's been fine.

I'm hoping that as the other's grow, I can put them in by themselves for a few months and let them establish the tank as their own, adding the RD later on. I think that once he finds his cave and establishes his territory he'll pretty much leave the others alone. I'm thinking about using Silver Dollars as Dither fish until the others get larger. Then i'll be upgrading their tank to a 200 gallon.

thats great if you can upgrade again.i see the RD as a problem too,at 8 inches he just beginning to find out his strength.also if/when the cons pair up,then all hell breaks loose as they defend.maybe an all male tank?

You have a 8" red devil and 7" pleco in a 29 together right now?

Yes. I'll be moving them very soon. They live together peacefully though. The RD doesn't bother him unless he comes near his cave.
