Hello, Im new to Monster Fish Keepers forum and I was hoping I could find some answers on what I can put in my tank that I'm almost finished building. Ive kept cichlids in the past and I was just looking for some suggestions on what sort of fish I could put in my tank. I was pretty keen on a peacock bass but I don't think 175 gallons is enough room. I also really wanted to get an oscar again because I loved the first one I owned. I was also keen on a Sleepy Cod which I know is not a cichlid but its hard to find the right forum to post on when you are new. I am in Australia so I may not have access to everything you suggest (much to my frustration) but I really like big predatory fish (unlike African cichlids) I would love some advice/suggestions.
Tank dimensions are 60cm wide x 60cm tall x 180cm long. (around about 24' x 24' x 72' for those that don't know cm very well)
Thanks :)

pair of oscar, pinctus catfish trio, shoal of dollars, pleco and a fire eel or relative? they are all pretty common and would make a nice display, i know rare fish are extremely expensive down under!-) i also like the idea of a big buttikoferi and a massive shoal of red jewels as a rivine biotope...

Argentea, Synspillum, Breidohri, Pearsei, Bocourti, Carpintis, Midas, Red Devil, Green Terror, Festae, Amarillo, Xilo, Jack Demsey, Cuban and Salvini to name some... not all of them, lol. You could always pick 3 or 4 and try it out, but as others will tell you be prepared as with big rowdy cichlids, they just don't mix sometimes. If you really like large predatory cichlids and want a big solitary fish, try a Dovii, Jaguar, RTM or Umbee either by themselves or as a pair?? Armored catfish are always a good choice as a bottom dweller. Welcome and good luck!!!
