so it's my turn to ask a stocking question :)

I recently aquired a 210g 7x2x2 tank. I'm in the process of resealing the tank and building a stand. Will have a 55g sump

I wanted a big tank for my 2 oscars and 4 polys.

this is my thinking for the stocking, will I be over or under stocked ?

2 tiger oscars , 4-5" currently growing out in there 75g
1 albino senegal, in growout
1 senegal' in grow out
1 delhezi, in grow out
1 endli, in growout
1 albino tiger ,3" recently "rescued"
1 red oscar, just had to have him last sunday :) about 1.5"

those are the fish I have but I wanted to add 4 or 5 clown loaches and about 6 convicts that don't pair up in my other "breeding tanks".

Will my tank be overstockrd as it is or do I still have room for my loachs I want. this is my first monster tank so this is all new territory for me. please share your thoughts .

Not sure you could get all 6 convicts in the tank. Clown loaches it depends on how big you get them/have them. Good news is clown loaches grow very slow takes 10 years usually for them to be fully grown.

last time I found loachs localy they were around 2-3" in size, I know they are slow growers which is good for me, once they outgrow my tank I hope to have a real monster tank, or just rehome them.

the convicts are not a fish I had planned to add but they are just there in my other tanks, I might just rehome them too.

Speaking from experience, get a 75 or 90 for the sump. I have a 55 on my 220 and I really regret not going with at least a 75. 90 would be best if you have the height for it.

with the stand in planning to build I'm going to have 30" of height inside the stand,
I have two 75g but I would rather keep those for display tank.
what issues did you have with the 55g?

Surprisingly, it just ran out of space pretty quick on me. I put baffles in it and my pump chamber water level fluctuates a lot between water changes. I’m not trying to say that 55 is a bad size, but I just really think it’s worth it to find a good used 75 or 90 on Craigslist and use it instead.

I can't imagen running out of room. I'm planning for 2 filter socks and 5 gallon bucket worth of pumice stone for the bio, but then again this is gonna be my first sump. so I have no experience here
I actually bought the 55g on Sunday since pet supplies plus was having a $1 gallon sale.
I'll keep an eye on Craigslist maybe I'll get lucky and find something bigger cheap and I'll have another nice tank to set up :). thanks
