I've been out of the hobbie about 8 years use to run 40 plus tanks bit usually all same species. I'm setting up this 220 in hopes of a mix. Right now I have 17 calvus and comps mix all around a inch inch and a half.

I'm looking to add shell dwellers for something on the bottom what else would you recommend filters are fx5 and 2 rena xp3s.

Not looking for a war zone also what kind of bottom feeders should I look at want something small.

Sorry, I thought I posted a response!!

Since the Calvus and Compressiceps are still so small, you may want to consider trying 'Lamprologus' multifasciatus or 'L.' similis as both species will use shells on the substrate. I suggest at least 5 shells per fish.

Bottom feeder fish could by Synodontis lucipinnis catfish, minimum of 6 individuals. However they may disrupt breeding attempts or eat any fry of the shell dwellers.

The rocks with holes won't be much help to the shell dwellers but the catfish would enjoy them!

Yeah I'm not super worried about fry. My first order of shells came in yesturday 48 so far. I may wait awhile and let the others grow up some looking at multi and brevis I'll look into the other. Any other tangs you would recommend

Can you post the tank dimensions?

Which species Calvus and Compressiceps are you keeping?
