Recently got my 300 set up running, transferred the following fish into it:
12" red tailed catfish
8" peacock bass
6" jaguare cichlid
12" ghost knife

I am interested in Ornate polypterus, pike cichlids, and a large Arowana.

Anyone see any issues with the above as long as size of each is appropriate ?

Next question is what can I add to the tank that has some color to it ?

would like something red, yellow, or orange. (read my family thinks we need more colorful fish in there)

I am willing place RTC in separate tank if he becomes the problem for potential choices.
Thanks

The RTC is going to be a problem when it gets 3 feet long, but things should be fine for now.

Agree totaly. There is a lfs here in phoenix that has one in a 1500gal tank and its about 4' long and looks like it weighs a couple hundred pounds. When they get big enough he'll even swallow your peacock bass. Everyone else included.

Also watch out for the rtc eating potential tankmates if they're small enough to fit in it's mouth at this size as well..

What are the dimensions of the 300g tank?

Tank is 96" long, 24" wide and 30" high.

Tank would be rather narrow for a large 30"+ arowana IMO the width should be at least equal to the aros length. Many people keep large aros in much smaller though.

With some of the fish in there it will be trial and error. Glad to see you will be willing to put the RTC into a different tank though. A lrg. silver aro is a wonderfull fish to own and can really get to a great size in your tank. He could definitelly be the centerpiece and will not try to eat all the medium size fish in the tank like the RTC will. Cant wait to see pics of the tank.
