I have a 75g aquarium with an FX6 and was looking to get some geophagus sveni and was curious if gymnogeophagus balzanni would be safe to stock together? I currently have angel fish, a ropefish, cardinal tetras, corys in the tank. Going to rehome the angels.

Unfortunately no gymnogeophagus balzanni require a seasonal cool down period. I also think the geophagus sveni will be too boisterous and grow large to keep both in a 75 gallon.

Agree with the above.
G balzani come from southern brazil and Uruguay where temps are moderate and seasonal, way out of the "sveni's" and the other fish you mention, from tropical area of the Amazon basin. (unless of course you could source the Argentinian strain of sveni)
and for sveni, a 6 ft tank would really be what I'd consider minimal, especially if you want tank mates.
And of course in the confines of a 75, by the time the sveni are half frown, they would be able to corner and eat your cardinals.

So, no on gymnogeophagus completely. What would you recommend geo wise for a 75? I'm looking to get around 5 or 6. Preferably some that have red.

I think most Geophagus get too big to have a group in tank that is only 120 cm/4ft long. What about Guianacara?

I agree, a 75 is only a temporary grow out for any Geophagines I've kept.
I also used 75 to grow out Guianacara, but moved them to a 6 ft tank as adults.

I would consider a 75 great long term tank for Micrgophagus, maybe keyholes, or Tahuanteinsuyoa.
It would also do fine for many Gymnogeophagus, but because of their winter cool down needs, some of the other species you mention wouldn't work.
There are plenty of tetras, and Cory's from the cooler south of South America.
Tetras like Buenos Aires, and cool water Corys you just need to source the particular variants
I kept balzani with Corydorus erhardti

Gymnogeophagus balzani left, Gymngeophagus sp rio yerbalito middle and right (during a winter cooldown)

Yes, Those are better suggestions, I suppose even Guianacara get rather big for that size tank. Another interesting possibility would be a group of Crenicara .
