Hi all,

Just upgraded my tank to a 180g (6x2x2) tank.. I currently have a 4" GT a 3 1/2" oscar a 2" Jag and a 3" sun catfish ( i may move into another tank) .. Id like to add a fish or two ( another oscar? and/or a JD/Salvini/convict/FM etc.. and some kind of schooling fish to keep things moving (tin barbs? balas? GD? don't know many schooling fish that keep well with my current set up) , any idea's, suggestions? thanks so much! :cool-1:

You could definitely add some schooling fish and maybe another cichlid. For schooling fish, I'd go with silver dollars. Bala sharks when they're mature are probably not suited to a 6x2. Although they do take a while to hit a decent size. I have 3 Balas in an 8x2 and my Oscars, GT and Brasiliensis all have a go at chasing them. They never get near them though. They are great display fish, but my largest at nearly 11 inches appears cramped. It seems to cover the tank length effortlessly. I love them though.

You may or may not have issues with the Jag and the Oscar co-existing when bigger. Depends on the fish. You could easily add another Oscar and maybe a Firemouth. Good luck. You have a great size tank

thx for the reply... however im not a huge fan of the silver dollars.. but from what ive seen and read.. it looks to be the best , along with tinfoil barbs..

as for another cichlid , im on the fence about another oscar (my tiger oscar is 3" and already pretty crazy).. or something like a uaru or JD , sevrum .. would i RD work? or just too much aggression .. thx
