Hey y'all.
I currently have a 37 gallon tank filled with: 1 red severum, 3 red rainbow, 3 Denison barbs, and 3 buenos aires tetras.

I'm upgrading to a 75 gallon next month and am trying to figure out some more school fish ideas. I would LOVE to have a pair of geophagus- is that possible? I know someone mentioned a type of geophagus (common name blue ram chihlid?). But I would prefer a "true geophagus" so to speak.. I enjoy watching them eat the sand, and I'm not sure if that's something that the blue Rams do.

I was also looking into getting some red gouramis.. The ones I saw had great patterns, but my hubby is saying that the red severum might see them as a threat if they look to similar? I'm not sure if that's a legit thing though. I seem to be heading toward a red motif and am fond of it..

Anyways.. Any thoughts on stocking or PEs with severums are welcome. Thank everyone! :)

This is a pic of the gourami that I was looking at adding. Just for reference. :)

You make be over stocked with the Geo's IMO, maybe try a smaller cichlid species. I would add more Dennisons , Buenos Aires tetras and rainbows and call it good.

I agree with Wailua boy. Increase the schools of what you have and you will see better colors and behaviors.

Geophagus wont work they need to be in groups. I have a 75 with a red severum and the tank fills up and looks over stocked quickly. Check out electric blue acaras looks good with the red severum and will fit well with your stock.
