I hope I am posting this in the right spot. I currently have a 55gal with 2 severums, a blood parrot, a school of tiger barbs and some rams. I am debating on moving my rams to a 30 gal and adding a couple convicts and some other dwarf cichlids.

Eventually I would like to have just one big tank, how big would I need to combine all of these.

bump.......anybody

i wouldn't add convicts with dwarf cichlids, convicts tend to just be really damn mean and they'd probably go after your severums a bit too. even if they do fine for a while sometimes they'll just snap. Honestly I would stick to your current stock, if you really want convicts i'd put them off by themselves in the 30 and keep the fish who have done well together in their 55

you may be able to get away with 1 female convict but deff not a mating pair. they will be way too aggressive then. but i agree that you could keep all your fish in the 55 then get convicts for the 30

get one of the smaller acaras instead of convicts...things like Krobia sp. or Bujurquina sp. They will not present the same aggression issues as the convicts

Im not stuck on convicts. I think I may just stock my 30 with my rams. Then up the number of rams and get some dithers of some sort.

For the rams why not go with a pair instead of multiple, in order to reduce possible aggression by those that do pair up

I have a pair now. I just thought about maybe some GBR's. I also used to have some apistos I really enjoyed. I have been thinking maybe plant the tank pretty heavily.

Excellent advice.
