I know that every fish has its own "temperment" so to speak but with your experience could a Zonatus and an Argentea co-exist peacefully in a 240? I love the look of both of these fish and currently already own a 7-8" Argentea. With this stock would you advise it or is there another C/A you would chose?

right now i have 7-8" Argentea, 5" Maculicauda, 5" Regani, (2) 4-5" Silver Dollars and (3) 7-8" Red Hooks. I would Love to add a zonatus if it could work. as of right now the tank is 100% peaceful.

I think it could work as long as it is the right size. Here are a couple of other suggestions:

1. Lyonsi
2. Robertsoni
3. Severum
4. Pearsei

Might depend on the individual personality of the fish. Could it work? Sure. I say go for it, and be ready for a backup plan, in case it doesn't.

I like white15's suggestion... I'd add Bocourti on there as an option.

The zonatus would be 8-9" I believe. I was also looking into pearsei and would get both if given the chance that the zonatus could work. Has anyone seen them kept together?

I had them together for a several months with no issues (I have since moved both fish), but for whatever reason, my zonatum did NOT like my synspillum, and eventually killed him.

That's a good idea. If you want to go in a different direction, you could even do a Polleni.

I would love to add a bocourti but I can only fond small ones and at 2.5" I don't know if I'd want to risk it. But bocourti and pearsei would definitely be my top choises

How about a growout tank?

My zonatus is nuts, he lives with a fenestratus. I think the argentea would be fine...if anything the argentea would pick on the zonatus since it was 'his' territory first
