I have a 55G long, it's done cycling. Went to the LFS, I have one Convict, one African Jewel, and 6 tiger barbs. Both the convict and jewel are about 2 inches, the tiger barbs are 1.5 inches. LFS said the barbs will give the tank some movement, and keep my kids happy.

Would there be room to add a Salvini to the tank?

yes but give it lots of cover to hide from the convicts

It's going to depend on the individual fish's personalities, saying if it will work or not is merely speculation. You could try it and if they're fighting too much you might have to remove one. You could add a small pleco like a Bristlenose or Gold Nugget.

Btw Toehead he said only one convict.

i would try it, but keeping in mind theres a good chance it won't. established jewel and con might not take kindly to the new guy
