hey guys, I have a 260 gal tank dimensions of 84"x30"x24" that is currently empty. I have been thinking about how I would like to stock it and was thinking of filling it with larger cichlids such as oscars, jaguars, dovii etc. firstly a issue can see is aggression levels what are peoples experiences with this? and how can I combat it? also what other cichlids could I add to the list to keep in the tank? if not cichlids what would people recommend? also as far as bottom dwellers are concerned I have no ideas. again I would like some larger bottom dwelling fish anyone have any ideas fro this that will fit with the other fish and get along? any help welcome!
Thanks
Luke

From what I've heard the common Pleco gets about to 2 feet, and they're easy to find. I also love my African Featherfin Catfish. It even eats freeze dried krill from my hand.

Chocolates get about a foot, and stay peaceful, along with Severum.

A tank with oscars, jags and dovii?

You need prayer. That's probably your best bet.

You definitely don't want a dovii if you have any intentions of a community style tank. They are known to be extremely territorial and will likely kill all their tank mates in short order. If you just want big good looking fish there are other options but keep in mind fish have individual personalities and its good to know that you may have to return some or move them to other tanks if you get a bad apple. The good news is you have a nice big tank so your chances of success are improved already. Some fish that may work well in this set up would be:

Oscars
vieja melanarum - (sold under the names: synspilum, quetzal cichlid, redhead cichlid)
Severums - rotkiels, reds, golds, there are a few varieties and they're all really cool
Salvini's - smaller but can be aggressive if they pair up
Geophagus - Best in schools usually. There are many varieties research them for tank compatibility
Green terror - andinoacara rivulatus. Normally laid back but some are aggro

The list goes on and on but please research compatibility because you don't want to end up with a bunch of dead fish! Best of luck!

cheers guys, so looks like jaguars and dovii will be too territorial? anyone any ideas for bottom dwellers?

Giraffe cats are cool, tons of personality. The geophagus are actually kind of bottom feeder type fish. The list that monster fish lists is good and actually goes along my stock list. Nicagaruens (sp?) Are docile typically. I have a snook cichlid, not at all territorial. Plecos are always a fun addition.
