I am putting together a 180gal tank and plan to stock with 1 Lima shovelnose, 2 oscar, 1 arowana. Possibly 6 silver dollars as dither and 1 upper jaw bicher. All the usual caveats apply, I have plenty of filtration and understand arowanas get big - I have the space and ability to get a larger tank should it come to that (and it likely will).

So, question, is there a strategy to adding these? Can I just get 2 4" oscars and a 6" LSN, 6" arowana and put them in at the same time or should any one of these be substantially larger than the others? Will silver dollars as dither reduce aggression againt my showcase pieces?

Basically, starting day 1, what should my stocking strategy be?

SDs are dithers not target fish. They wont reduce aggression . Target fish reduce aggression. Dithers make fish feel safer out in the open.

when you get a bigger tank, aggression hierarchy starts all over.

The Silver Arowana will grow fast so hopefully the Oscars will atleast grow not to fit in the Aro' s mouth.
