Stocking Sugg. 40 gal long

i have a few tanks, but i also have a 40 gallon long sitting around. looking for opinions on what to put in it. i already have monster tanks (not that a 40 is suitable anyways), and i have a community tank with neon tetras, zebra danios, and a dwarf gourami.

i was thinking of moving the neons and danios to it, and adding more. then get a centerpiece or 2. but then what do i put in the 20 gallon hex they are in now...

so, what would you fill the 40 with? im looking for a lively tank (will probably be in the living room/entertainment room) i want active 1st, colorful 2nd. i dont have a whole lot of experience with the community tanks besides what i already have.
i do think a bunch of neons and danios would look cool, so if i did that, what would you put in the 20 hex?

i would get rid of the 20 hex, no offense. i hear they arent shaped right for fishes swimming habits (too tall and not very long) and they cause dead spots for the filtration. turn the 40 into a planted aquarium with neons, danios, cories, and some gouramis, maybe an angelfish or two also.
