Setting up my 29g Tang tank, first attempt at Tang's :) currently cycling, Nitrites FINALLY fell to ZERO, yea! Anyway, I am set up for Multi's and need opinions on good tank mates. Another forum has helped me narrow down the what will work scenario's... This post is to get other ideas or feedback from your experiences.

Multi's are a given... Options that I know of for possible tank mates are

Julidochromis Transcriptus or Ornatus (strongly considering the J. Transcriptus Pembe)
Lamprologus Caudopunctatus (red fin)

I know this next thought is not one that many suggest as an addition, but thinking of adding a single Altolamprologus Black Calvus Inkfin for fry control down the road... I figure if I add a Black Calvus as a Juvie the Multi's will get a good head start before the Calvus is big enough to eat the fry and/or eggs.

So, thought? Suggestions?

Much appreciated...

The multies may harass other fish to death in the tank once. Once my colony got large enough they final pushed the caudopunctatus to a small corner and killed two. I know it sound unlikely but I have had them together for a years now and the colony over took the 110 finally.

Really? This first time that I have heard this... I thought Multi's were fairly easy going provided you stay away from their shells. And they "teach" other species to stay away :) do you think then that I'd I went with Punks and a single juvie Black Calvus it would maybe work out in keeping the number of Multi down? Or would Julie's and a Calvus work better since Julie's are a Tad bit bigger and the Calvus would be less likely to eat the smaller fems?
