I'm getting closer to stocking my 210g, starting to seriously think about what I want in it. I'm thinking mostly Mbuna, maybe 7 or 8 different kinds. I know I do not want to have similar looking Mbuna together. I was thinking a couple of nice larger Haps would be cool too, any in particular that would mix well with Mbuna without eating them? Maybe a couple of Peacocks too or am I asking for trouble mixing all of these guys together?

The general "rule" is peacocks OR mbuna with haps.Sure other mixes work but the thinking is the peacocks and mbuna like the same area (bottom rockwork) while the haps are mid to upper water fish.
A large school of red empress would look amazing.I saw a borleyi breeding group yesterday, the male was stunning.Im a big fan of cyrtocara moori, beautiful fish.

Thanks for the response. I'm thinking a mid to upper level inhabitant would compliment the Mbuna nicely, so it looks like Haps are a better choice. The red empress, is this fish Protomelas Taeniolatus? How many and what male/female mix would you recommend?

Still collecting ideas on stocking if anybody else has some input.

I started to shift my stock in our 210 from mbuna to Haps. We still have Zebras, crabro, auratus, callainos, johanni, lombardi and prolly one or two others in there. They provide plenty of action and color while habitating mostly on the bottom and in their rocks.

We added Champsochromis c., Copadichromis b., Cyrtocara m., Fossorochromis r., Nimbochromis v., OB Peacocks, Placidochromis Phenochilus t. and I might be missing one or two.

Tank is lively, full of color and someone is always spawning. The fry come and go as we make no attempts to save them. Our population grows by about three or four a month and once a year we donate a few dozen growouts to our LFS.

Thanks for the ideas. Any pics of your tank you can share?
