I have a 72g bowfront.... that is my "show tank" for now, just because it is going on the main level of the house when the rest are in the basement. 72g low light planted tank. I am looking for something cool interesting eye catching to go in there. Let me know what you guys can come up with ! Thanks so much suggestions so far:

discus
angels and tetras
exodons

not that I dont like all those fish... just looking for something that will wow people

Heres my suggestions :),

-African Cichlids
-Dwarf Cichlids (Rams, Apistos, & any other small cichlids)
-Rainbowfish along with your discus, tetras, angels, silver dollars, glass catfish, and/or gouramis
-Electric Blue Jack Dempsey
-Blue Acaras

well when you say eye popping to me it sounds like oddball.
Some great oddball fish are...

Mormyrids
predatory Characidae's
Knifefish
Rainbow snakeheads
bichirs
spiny eels
long fin eels
Puffers
electric catfish
true parrot cichlids
etc

Hope this helped

Most knifefish, longfin eels, & electric catfish all get WAY too big for a 72g

& mormyrids (elephant nose fish) are an alright suggestion but they are nocturnal, so they will hide most of the time. So if you don't want a fish you will rarely see, then I wouldn't suggest getting one :D

I would recommend maybe a needle nose gar, I don't think a poly bichir is to big. I think the main problem you will have is finding some oddballs that will coexist.

leaning towards the spotted or alligator gar...... even when he outgrows the 72g he can go with my SA cichlids... or possibly a mbu or fahaka puffer how long till they outgrow the 72 if I get them at 4-5"
