So I just got the okay to start building an outside tank/above ground pond so I was curious about what people think I should put in it?

The dimensions are going to be 5'x42"x22"
I'm 95% sure that's as big as I can go but If I can get it to 5x4 I'm going to try.

So what do you guys think I should put in this beast?

I was thinking maybe a RTC for starters

I think you should already restart. No rtc. Its not very long so you can't get too big of fish. I'd do like a sa/ca community with like 3-7 fish growing 12" then some catfish like pims and maybe some bichir (I know they aren't ca/sa).

Maybe I should work for a longer size rather than wider and go for a 6'x36" dimensions

Still no go for rtc. look at a flag tail they get pretty big a look good. The majority of bichirs would love that tank. Still really wouldn't push it too bbig. Depends on what you want but I wouldn't get anything that grows past 20-24" again depending on the fish. What about Pike Cichlids. It's kinds random just tossing out ideas with millions of fish when you don't even know what kind you are looking for

outside and above ground tank? what do you think that a RTC will be able to survive the winter when water temperature go under 60?
try some albino channel cat and/or some gold fish, they are still really fun to keep though.

Well obviously Id get a pond heater for it... and Ive dropped the idea of an etc I just think 6'x3' would open up other options, Id love stingrays! but they're illegal in cali grrr
