Hey everyone, I am thinking about adding something to my tank, either a school of dithers or a single larger fish (Uaru?). I am looking for suggestions of what to get. Here is the current setup:

65g Planted w/ Amazon Swords, Crypts, and some Lily bulbs that have not sprouted yet
4 Large-ish Angels (ranging 3-4", mouth to base of tailfin)
1 Large-ish (6-7" I think) Synodontis
3 Corydoras (1 Panda, 1 Julii, 1 Emerald)

Parameters, as of Friday 3/11:
Ammonia <.25 (test kit does not read 0)
Nitrites 0
Nitrates .30
Temp 77F/25C
pH 6.0-6.3, trying to bring that up a little and will test again today when I get home from work.

Only one other thing, I had an outbreak of what appeared to be some kind of fungus, causing fin rot and popeye, and have been treating with Melafix which has helped tremendously. Obviously I will get the current fish back to full health before adding anything else, but could the Melafix have changed the water parameters any?

[Edit] By the way, the tank is overfiltered with a Fluval 304 and two MarineLand HOBs rated at 30g/Apiece :)

I have a pair of Platinum Angelfish that have spawned twice, so they are still young. About a year old. I have a school of 7 (going to increase) black neon tetras. The pair have not eaten any of them, yet....

Go with more Corys for sure!! They are very social fish and like big groups.

Want more Cory's for sure... of the three I have they each have their own little personality. I'm going through an ammonia spike right now, checked parameters yesterday and Ammonia was at 1.0... I think this is because last week I replaced the substrate (got tired of sand clogging my Fluval, switched to gravel). Once I get the water leveled out, I plan on adding some (3 more?) Cory's. As for neons, I had heard they are the natural food for larger angelfish in the wild, so don't know if I will risk adding them to an established tank with larger Angels.

What I've thought of since my last post:

A small school of Bleeding Heart Tetras, or
A small school of Longfin Red Minor Serpae Tetras, or
3-4 Bolivian Rams or German Blue Rams, or
3-4 Boesemani Rainbows

Thoughts? I have enough plants driftwood, and rocks to break up line of sight for 3-4 rams, although I would settle for 2 with a small school (6-10) of tetras. I've never kept either of these tetras before, so if anyone has had them with angelfish and has advice I'd love to hear it.

[Edit] WOW, TropicalFishKing, if your avatar is the platinum angels you were saying you have, those look AMAZING. I've never seen those before.

I would leave the Angelfish as the center piece fish, so I would say no to the rainbows... IMO.
What type of Angelfish do you have right now?

And yes, that is one of the Platinums that I currently have.

1 Silver, 1 Halfblack (I think), 1 Gold Veil, and 1 that looks like a Gold Veil with just a couple of black spots on each side, not sure if he is a koi or not.

not to ruin this thread but tropical how can I talk to you , your pm doesn't seem to work. I would go with more angels let them breed. Probably do some more plants but I'm no expert on plants.

I don't know whats wrong. Just post on my page.

Becareful with the rams, I had four in a 55g gallon tank heavily planted and pleny of sight breaking deco. And I had aggression issues, just a forwarning that its still possible and not to dismiss it. Just keep an eye out and make sure they aren't doing damage to each other because it does happen

^ maybe you had a sausage fest of rams? lol.....

try some rummynose tetras?
congo tetras....FTW my fav.
serpaes are cool..thats what i have 20...
killifish?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I may get one more Angel just to make an odd number, but I think I will also get a school of 10 or so of the Longfin Red Minor Serpae's... Never kept Congos before but from my 5 minutes or so worth of research it says they may become reclusive if not the dominant species in the tank. Def a pretty fish though, will keep them in mind...
