I have a 360g (4'x4'x3') fish tank and it needs fish. So i was thinking about a tsn and a silver aro, or maybe some cichlids. Only inhabitant is a 8in channel cat who is temporary untill big enough to go in pond. What do u think?

Be careful the tsn might go after the channel catfish if they are not the same size. It depends though if you get an aggressive tsn or not. Although your tank is only 4ft in length so that kinda sucks to what you can have. Maybe a silver aro is not the best choice. If I were you I would put that catfish in the pond or get rid of it and get some nice rays and datnoids. You could though go always go the cichlid route though like you said. Get some nice SA cichlids or a few dozen african cichlids. Though with africans you can't keep the catfish with them. Anyways good luck, this seems like an intersting shape for a tank.
I'd go with cichlids, in a tank that size you can put quite a few specimens...I would rather use a tank that size on many fish rather than just one or 2 big ones
imo thats a good footprint for bottom dwellers but not very ideal for alot of top-dwellers, particularly big ones. I would x2 cichlids. You could do some very nice rockwork in something that size, and still have plenty of swimming room. I think the 4'x 4' would pose problems for an arrow eventually, but not for a few years. And maybe not at all. not sure if Gars are legal by you. But a small group of florida gars would also make a nice display, particularly if you planted the tank up nicely. Oh and if you like Cats a Lima would be very happy in that tank for life. or if you don't mind the $ Tigrinus cats are beutiful.

a Tanganyikan cichlid tank with a lot of rockwork would be fantastic and have in theory a lot of diversity in behavior/appearance
