Hi keepers!!! How are you?

I'm deciding my stocklist for my new project "Medium-size amazon predators". I will be happy if you could give me some opinions about this:

My intention tankmate list:

Hydrolycus tatauaia
Acestrorhynchus falcatus
Boullengerella maculata
Crenicichla tapajos
Crenicichla stockii or acutirostris
Erythrynus erythrynus
Osteoglossum ferreirai, just for a while...I have a place for him when he outgrow my tank..

My tank have 140gallons 6x2ft

Any advice???

Thank you all....sorry for my poor english..

It will be quite a cramped tank. i wouldn't add the aro since it'll cause more ruckus. The aro will definately outgrow the other fish and it might bully them. Tats are pretty skittish so the less the fish the better. Is this the final tank for these fish? I don't know much about these pike cichlids.

My choice would be this:

1xtat
3xAce
1X ery ery

That can probabily fit the tank for life.

Let the others chime in.

Hey Lix....thank's for your advice.

To be honest...I already have a black aro :-( she has 6 inches. I will keep her just for one more year...I really love this fish and I will give to a friend who has a 700 gallon tank. I can't donate him right now because she is still small to enter in his tank (huge fishes).

Do you think that bollengerela are a bad choice???

I already have a tapajos pike but if he cause me problems he will go to this 700 gallon tank (my friend has 15 pikes...)

Do you think that erythrynus could cause "bullying" problems?

Thank you again lix. Here in Brazil we have many nice predators fishes to keep but we don have many aquarist interested to keep them. Almost all brazilian aquarists that like predators fish...will choose lepisosteus and datnioides over our own specimens...so it's very important to me keep this kind of conversation with MFK guys!

That aro is quite tough to have tankmates with your chosen stock. You can try keeping it with the tat but I doubt it'll last. The falcatus could also be an easy target for the aro. I do not have any experience with keeping aros with characins. Aros could work with larger characins such as armatus but smaller ones could be in trouble.

keeping the aro with the bollengera isn't such a good idea because the bollengera are very skittish fish so if the aro spooks it, it will go crazy and injure it's mouth/bill.

How big are the tapajos pikes? I'm not familiar with pike cichlids. The ery ery will try to compete with the pike's territories because they are both bottom dwelling fish.

Ya, it's a real shame that people in your country are keeping their amazing native fish. If I could only choosing one region of fish, I would definately choose the fish from south america!

Do you catch your own fish?

The pikes and red wolf will end up killing the tat if its small. The Cuda is cool. I had one of those. Awesome fish

Ok Lix I understand your point!

Probably the Aro will get out sooner than I expect..but it's ok.
My pike has 5 inches...he don't seems to give attention to my other fishes (tat and aro) but pikes are pikes they are never trustable. I will keep an eye on him. But I think that an 5-4 inches erythynus could hand with pike agressions, am I wrong?
No. I live in São Paulo far away from Amazon. Here in our state we can capture some species but not these. Here we have some hoplias, acestrorhynchus, rays, some crenicichlas, cichlas, dourados, motoro rays, botton dwellers...and many others.

the erythrinus could have minor fights with the pike. Maybe expect some ripped fins and missing scales. It's either that or they could be fine. Make sure you have a back up plan. The pike could also bully the tat. Tats are delicate and gets spooked easily so watch out.

As for your fish, do you catch your fish that you have or do you buy them from a store that catch them for you? I fascinated because all of the native fish that we have are nothing compared to your's.

Red wolf would kill those pikes... My red wolf killed danios and other tankmates I had him/she with and they were twice the size of him/her

Hi exotic! I'm very anxious to put my hand in a kuda group! Which kuda do you have?

Lix I buy my fishes from a seller. But it's wrong to think that you could go to any fish store here and buy what you want. Sometimes it's hard to find some species because mostly sellers only export fishes!!!! Sabbertooth tetras as example are not so common for us!!! Boullengerelas too as many other fishes. There are some fishes like: gulper catfish or lynx catfish that almost any fish that is collected is exported.
Some fishes are very expensive for us too, but others are cheap. A leopoldi sting ray BD here costs something like; 1000-1500 U$....but hoplerythrynus cost 15 U$.

Crazy country :-)
