I put a 180 with black pine stand glass tops and lights on lay-a-way today. 3 Questions I have to ask which will hopefully shed some light into some dark spots for me. Here is a stock list I have comprised of current fish and fish I would like for the 180.
1 Red Devil (male)
1 Jack Dempsey (male)
1 Green Terror (male)
1 Jaguar parachromis (male)
1 mota parachromis (or freddy or loiesellei)
2 salvini (male&female)
1 dovii parachromis(male)
2 cichla mono's(males)
1 Some Kind of Vieja
1 florida gar(either)
1 RTCxTSN hybrid (either)
5 Geophagus Pindare

Now, what size sump assuming these fish will be compatible (the first 4 will be juveniles when moved in there and the others will be bought at sub-juvie or comprable size and I know I will need a 300 plus one day for the Hybrid but he will probably have a pond in a year or two)I was thinking a 75 gallon sump but have no idea what size return pump I should use. The sump I'm looking at has two separate chambers with mech on top and bio on bottow im guessing because the tank has twin overflows??? And is 75 gallon sump enough and again what size pump, what size bulkheads should I use I wanna get at least 4-5 times turnover rate so im thinking a pump gph around 1500-1800 gph. Any other comments and ideas would be great. Also I've haven't kept any of those species besides the top 4 and what substrate plants etc... works with them best would be appreciated too.

Actually suggestions on a gar that would get along with those others I mentioned I dont know much about them besides I really would like to have one...

Anyone???

I'll probably end up ditching the mono's and gar off of the list that should free about 4 feet up lol.

1 Red Devil (male)
1 WC Barred Midas or Festae(male)
1 Jaguar parachromis (male)
1 mota parachromis (or freddy or loiesellei)
2 salvini (male&female)
1 dovii parachromis(male)
1 Some Kind of Vieja
1 RTCxTSN hybrid (either)
5 Geophagus Pindare

Revised.

it seems like a decent list, although there is always a chance that the male dovii creates havoc in there

I am hoping the cat wont be a problem with eating everything but, now that it has been brought up I dont want to buy a bunch of fish from Rapps that are gonna cost mucho $$$ and then have the catfish eat them all. I might have to put off the hybrid for now. What about a Lima shovelnose?

naihhh, how about a more exotic cat,one that still gets humongus, has a growth rate more consistent with the cichlids, and poses no threat to any of them being dinner,a girrafe cat, even a syndontis decorus 10 to 12 inch max would be nice except some of the cichlids might find the long trailing dorsal fin of the decorus enticing, just a suggestion
