so im gonna get a gulper cat and keep my redtail payara.
plus maybe i'll be keeping my lap.
so,
gulper - 5 inches
redtail payara - 9 inches
lapradei - 13 inches

the tank dimensions are 30 inches length by 18 inches width by 20 inches height.

any other fish i can add?
i understand that the payara and lap will eventually get too big and will nto be kept for life in this tank.

also,i have 2 irwinis that are 2 and 3 inches.
will they be fine in the tank since they have spines?

That doesnt sound like a good idea to me...

Gulper cats are the Pac Man Frogs of the fish world....Do not stick ANY fish smaller than the BODY size of the Gulper itself....

yea.
i know how big of a thing they can eat.
but i thought theyd spit out the irwinis cause of the spines.
i understand that gulpers can get so tamed they dont bother hunting?

So basically your guaranteed that the irwins will at least get injured when attacked and you also know that the spines will injure the gulper...im not understanding you logic on that

So best case scenario both fish get injured and worse case one gets eaten and one gets injured...I would vote no

Personally I wouldnt do anything until you get a huge tank, as the Payara gets around 36" (at 9" now, it should be having a growth spirt now) and I forget how bug gulpers get, I just know they get big and eat anything.

so just stick with the 3 for now until you get a 300+ gal tank...

did ya read kolstix thread where his 8" lei was eaten by his 3" gulper cat
