Is it possible that a stone could release ammonia? I was testing out some travertine paving stones and right around the time I put them in the water I started having water quality issues. They were bought at home depot, and I figured unless someone peed on them, all I had to worry about was ph and copper. Anyone have any input?

Yes, you could see ammoina added as well as that well know pH swing after adding new rock. There are trace amounts of dead things on most surfaces... rock has a lot of surface. That's what you might be seeing.

Thanks for getting back to me. As of right now everything is pulled out of the pool. Trying to get to the bottom of this asap. I was also told, perhaps fertilizer made its way onto something and was slowly leaching out. Things that never crossed my mind.

Be careful with supplies bought at home depot.
