Hey guys I have a 300 gallon 18mm all glass 6x3x3 tank and I just would like to know what silicone should I use to reseal it ge 1?? Rtv108?? Preferably black silicone if it is as strong or stronger. What do you guys think ??

I've used both and RTV 108 is far superior.

I used Dow Corning 732 for my 220 gal, and it is by far much much much better than GE windows and doors. The make a different one by the same brand, it is supposed to be the strongest you can possible get, but it ONLY comes it black. It sounds like it would be perfect for you, but i wanted clear so i didnt use it. Havent tried the rtv 108 so idk about that. The dow is mainly aimed at industrially so it might be a little hard to get a hold of, but imo it is by far the best. I loook around and try and figure out what the black one is called and see if i can find a source for you.

Edit: Found the stuff. Its is Dow Corning 795, comes in a bunch of colors(incuding black) except clear. This is the hard core stuff that they use for building public aquariums, it is construction quality building sealant. Best stuff you can buy, people on this site have made multi thousand gallon aquariums with this, that being said it is a tad more expensive (suprisingly not too too bad though) and you would be fine just using the 732, it comes in black aswell.

Oh yeah and also I have heard the 795 has an extremely long cure time (I think FULL cure is 21 days!!!!) so like if this is an esablished tank and the fish are in holding, I would just go with the 732 becuase the cure time is much shorter.

To me, this is a BIG tank so Dow Corning 795 it is. I have no problem with a 21 day curing time.

HAS anyone used this for a large aquarium or anything else just as strong??? I have a 3 year old and my wife to worry about since they will be the ones home most of the time!
also i have a tiny chip on my front left panel it is very tiny and the glass is 18 mm. should I worry???? 72x30x30

Sorry, I meant to say the left side of my front panel on the middle
should i throw on aluminum corner guards with some PL because the corners will be covered by the stand. I can reinforce it with a 2x4 frame, but that might look kinda ugly.

Probably Grainger or McMaster-Carr would be your best bets. You may be able to pick it up somewhere, but chances are you will have to get it shipped to you. If they have the RTV 108 you could also use it - I did quite a bit of searching and it seems to be the best silicone out there (the Dow Corning 795 is also very good, I've read). For either one it will definitely be an industrial supply house, they aren't marketed to general consumers.
