Stop eating eggs?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
same with trying to prevent any fish from eating their eggs..u either remove the parents or you remove the eggs into a breeder tank...

Parent's eat their eggs when they feel they can't protect it or if they feel insecure that they dont want other fish to eat, so they do it themselves... its usually because they feel stress...

I suggest getting a 10 gallon breeder tank and put the eggs there..

Thanks. I just thought that it was better to let them hatch with the parents and remove the fry shorty there after, because the parents pick out the infertile eggs.
I've heard that if the infertile eggs are not removed that they could affect the fertile eggs from hatching.

hey rukus,
So i see you got the angelfish breeding. I was pulling the eggs out as well bc the fish were eating them. From what i have read, the only way to get them to stop eating them is by experience(i guess sometimes it takes more than 5 spawns before they finally figure it out). I also try to feed the parents alot of blood worms right after their done fertiling the eggs so that they are full, and feel that this prevents them from getting an appetite for the eggs. I dont know if it truly works or not. But either way you will have to pull the fry from the parents sooner or later and put them into a smaller tank as it is much easier to feed them in a nice small 10 gallon tank. I feel it is the easiest to just pull them before they hatch.

Thanks. I guess I'll just remove them as soon as they lay them.
mine usually put the eggs on a plastic leaf ..i just take the leaf and put into a tank filled with same water from mother tank.. use very light mist airstone... and hope for the best..good luck
