Help USARK Defeat S373 Python Ban Today!

It is rumored that S373 ‘The Python Ban’ may be included in a large omnibus Natural Resources Bill during the ‘Lame Duck’ session of Congress from now until the end of the legislative session. This provides the Reptile Nation an opportunity to kill S373 once and for all! Do Not allow powerful special interests to railroad S373 through in the 11th hour. I'm the 101th person from Texas to sign the petition. :D

Here's what I added:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

For some of us, the pursuit of happiness is keeping reptiles, and keeping them responsibly. The reptile industry is massive, over 3 million dollars, with 1 out of 20 American houses owning more than one reptile, and this bill would sweep that away overnight. It could well be the final nail in our economy's coffin, and I implore you to see reason. Yes, there is a problem with invasive pythons in Florida, but studies have shown that they are trapped in South Florida, as Northern areas get too cold, and the snakes have no instinct to avoid cold, as their native range is warm year round. They just slither into the snow and die.
In addition, regarding threats to native wildlife, pythons are the least of our worries. Pythons kill only when they need to eat, which can be only 2 or 3 times a year for a large individual.
Feral cats, on the other hand, kill to entertain themselves, and much more often. There are many tens of thousands more in the United States, and they can survive in much colder climates. Yet there is no bill to ban cats? Just because they have a more endearing public image?
As for threats to humans, pythons do not typically view people as prey, and would much rather avoid us.
Annually, thousands of people are hospitalized by dogs and cats, and many are killed. Less than 20 people are seriously injured by snakes each year, and still, snakes are worse? I think not.
I beg you to look past the public image of snakes, see this bill for what it truly is, and oppose it.
 
Done. The 42nd from Missouri. That is kind of shocking, since we are the puppy mill capital of the nation, I figured there would be more people opposing this type of legislation here in the state.
