ok so my dovii laid eggs last november, I was able to raise about 150 half an inch fry, the fry have been separated last week. I left 4-5 fry in the tank, hoping the pair wont lay another batch, "sadly" their at it again, they have prepared a new spawning site. So how do I prevent the pair from spawning, aside from separating the fish and not feeding them ?

You don't.... That is what healthy active fish do.... they reproduce. Just give the fry away if you don't want them. the only way to stop them is to separate them.

Precisely. They're fulfilling the entire purpose of their existence. Don't let the slight inconvenience to you affect this.

spawing slows down the growth rate so if you dont want that to happen then you would need to seperate them but i woluldnt.

I hear ya, Mine just laid again and there is still fry in the tank these fish are laying all the time so far I have been able to dump about 100 fry.

i would give the fry away, or try n get credit for them at an lfs. if thats not possible, and u have other large fish, i would use them as feeders like many people do with hybrids they dont want. try to give them away first though

feed the eggs or fry to other fish.

Have them marry each other, the screwing around will slow down, then eventually stop :)
