My new little hystrix ate for about 3 days. I watched her daily since then to make sure I was not imagining things, but have not seen her eat. She ate a LOT solid for about 3 days after I got her, now nothing. The male hystrix is eating, the male retic is eating, the discus are eating.... all no problems there, just her. Did water tests everyday different times and all shows well. As always, my nitrates are a little higher than I like but they've been there since day one.

Also, the male hystix spends a lot of time going up and down the side of the tank. Then swims around the bottom, then up the sides again. As said he's eating and pooing fine.

Any thoughts on any of it? Should I QT the girl? Treat the tank? Wait longer?

If he is climbing the glass a lot, are y ou sure the others are not picking on her.

As long as you ahve no ammonia, nitrIte then just keep an eye to make sure no one is pestering her.

The male is climbing the sides a lot, he's twice the size of everyone else. The female pretty much stays on the bottom, she does move around some.

I just noticed a very washed out whitish looking ray poo floating around in the tank. Its very small, from either her or the retic. The male hystrix poo is much larger.

White poo is a bad sign.. Pleas QT her.. and wat do u feed ur rays??

Live blackworms, frozen bloodworms, whole baby nightcrawlers for the bigger ray and chopped up baby nightcrawlers for the little ones.

My discus are coming out of the tank tomorrow. As said before, one of the thoughts was that the little one was being bullied. I noticed this evening that the largest of my discus came down and poked at her eye after I put food in the tank. Its the ray's tank, not theirs, they are leaving. Will see how it goes after that! Talked to Pedro at aquascape, always helpful, and he too felt that there was even the smallest amount of bullying going on that would turn her off to food.

Good that u r taking the dicus out..
But u need to worried about the white poo..
Most likely parasites.. Please take ur precautions..

Second day of metro/prazi treatment. Did a 40-50% water change and had removed the discus to my community tank. Ten minutes later the little girl was scooting around the tank and digging in the sand more than I've seen since day one. Hoping the trend continues and she comes back to what she should be. On a side note, the just blew the discus' minds!

Good news but give the discus the boot for good! IMO they don't belong in a stingray tank and just cause lots of problems, especially in the parasite department. Just check how many threads that state rays not eating or having problems and the discus are the cause of the problems! Not a good combo!
