just got african brown knifefish, great things, but my tetras are being fin nippers and its obviously stressing them out. is there a way to stop it?

black skirt tetras. tank is 56g, knife is about 4 inches. the other knifefish in the tank hide in a log i just got but this one is out in the open and i see him getting nipped at. and theyve been together for 6 hours.
Hmmmm....I guess you can give them some time, but if the knife's fins are really starting to get torn you might have to seperate them.
i dont really have anywhere to separate them to. but i turned off the lights so that the tetras might simmer down. an idea came to mind. get something that would leave the knifefish alone but eat the tetras

jk.after i fed my tetras their dinner they seemed to stop picking at my african. the other two sit in that log and attack anything that go near it, wonder if theyre mating, although ones half the size of the other.
