OK well i plan on going to my lfs and buy some guppies and rosy reds, about 50 of them to put into my 20 gallon. Then i would store them for about a week then throw half in with the cichlids then the next week throw the other half in there. But anyway as we all know they can have diesase. When i get them what do i look for as they are in the 20 gallon. Also is 50 of these little fish too much for a 20 gallon

when you buy them look to see if their healthy and not breathing so hard..Also look for sign of ick because if they do and u feed it to your cichlids they to will get it..just keep a eye for them

if the tank didnt have that fish load before, i would definitely watch your water quality in that tank or all the feeder will die before your ready to use them.

The quarantine time frame is very short. Give it 3-4 weeks. You are widening the chances of transmitting diseases by not extending the quarantine period. Why do you have to feed them feeders anyway?

just for the joy of it. BUt also its what they do in the wild so i guess its ok right. But i have the 20 gallon stock with 3 cory cats. so what i plan on doing it taking out about 50% of that water and fill it with the water out of my cichlids 55 tank. That should help. I also have a whisper 20 and a ac20. so i should be ok right?

it will help but not as much as you think, its akin to entering a 5 year old with training wheels in the tour de france.

bacteria populations wont grow as fast as you need to go from 3 cory cats to 50 guppies, you will probably have huge ammonia spike that will wipe out all the feeders.
do you really need 50 feeders at once?

personally i feel a observation period of a week will could still let alot of parasites by, you probably would be just as good picking out healthy looking ones in the store. unless your gonna quarintine them longer i would just buy them the day of or day before.

the best way to avoid parasites is a trusted source to get the feeders from, well i shouldnt say that, the best way to avoid parasites is not feed feeders.

not really but it would be less trips to the lfs, plus i would be able to hold them longer, plus i know alot of them will come dead and probably i a few days as all feeders do. So in the end i would probable have 25 health feeders. But i guess i could just buy 25 now and get more later.

and yes i could pick them out but its kinda of hard to get 25 guppies out of 200 in about a 30 gallom tank. also do u think rosy reds are less to have diease.they also have another type of feeder that looks like a guppy but a little bigger and starts with a V can someone tell me the name of this feeder
