I'm wondering if anyone here purposely mixes more salt water than is needed for their water changes, and keeps it on hand for one reason or another. My wife is planning a vacation that will most likely last 3-4 weeks including travel time. Now this means I have to teach my neighbor how to feed all of the fish in the house and perform a few water changes. Rather than trust her to mix the salt and water her self, I was wondering if there was a way that I could mix it all in advance, and have it stored in containers for her. I've seen premixed sw at PetSmart, so there should be a way. I'd rather not have rubber maid tubs scattered about on the floor, but I was looking at the different water containers at Wal-Mart.
Thoughts?

I actually always have some on hand. I run mostly nanos so if something goes wrong it goes wrong fast so I always keep 10 gallons saltwater at the ready. As long as its in am airtight container the sg will stay the same. If its in an open one the salinity will rise because of evaporating water. You just want to make sure it has enough oxygen dissolved in it before adding so I run an air stone in it for 15 mins before adding it to my tank.

Wow, thanks for the quick response. Generally I let it sit in the 10 gallon that I mix it in for about an hour with a power head and a bubble wand.
