My plan is to store 3-4 tanks out in my shed this summer. The temp will exceed 120F inside. Anyone see any issues with this?

I'm a little worried about the silicon cracking.

The only good thing is these are small tanks (5-20 gallons)

I don't think cracking will be the issue, I'd be worried about it melting and losing it's seal.......

120F isn't that hot, when compared to what silicone can be used for. From the Dow website:

"Stability over a wide temperature range – When
fully cured, our products can be used at temperatures
ranging from -85° to 599° F (-65° to 315° C)."

I think it'll be fine.

BTW, I had to store one of my tanks in the (unheated) garage this winter. I was expecting the temperature to get to -45C when I put it in there, but it was a relatively mild winter and I don't remember it getting below -40. If the tank held water before I put it in there, I'm sure it still will. Silicone is amazing stuff.

Except, that's one thing I like about Northern Canada. It doesn't get that hot here. I start to complain when it gets above 80F.:)

Dude, it was 81F yesterday here in SoCal!! Went to the beach Sunday!!
Anyway, silicone used for gaskets on engines and such is chemicaly the same as "aquarium grade" silicone from what I understand. Some differences in ingredients and their amounts. It doesnt get hot enough, even in Texas to melt silicone or break the adhesion. Your not going to put fish in those tanks out in the shed are you?

i dont think you have to worry to much, my neighbor had a 10g store in his attic for about two years and he just sold to me and it holds water just fine, i like in Phx AZ so youll know it gets pretty hot here maybe just the same as where you live
